If you run Serial Port Monitor for an extended period, its RAM usage can become excessive and may consume all available memory. This can result in an "Out of Memory" error message or cause your PC to crash due to insufficient memory.
Serial Port Monitor is not designed for long-term monitoring. However, you can limit the number of IRPs that Port Monitor retains. To do this, go to:
Session menu → Preferences → select "Windows" from the list → set "The maximum number of IRPs to remember" in the corresponding field
If you need to retain all IRPs, consider redirecting the data to a file.
To redirect the data:
Right-click the session view
Select "Redirect to file"
Click the "..." button to choose the file name and destination
Open the "Do not split or limit file" menu and choose how to split the file—by size, time, or idle time
