Since version 5.0, FlexiHub provides the ability to access locally-attached USB devices over an RDP channel. The latest FlexiHub edition is fully compatible with the Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). You can use the software to forward any USB devices you may need from your physical machine to a virtual desktop via a Remote Desktop Connection.

There are many devices that cannot be recognized and redirected to a remote desktop by the native means of Microsoft Remote Desktop clients. FlexiHub is designed to work with USB devices of any specific type, including smart card readers, 3D mice, webcams, etc. It enables secure USB port forwarding over an RDP channel and lets you access devices that are connected directly to your RDP client PC from the RDP server PC and vice versa.

Before you start using FlexiHub to share USB devices over RDP, you should do a few important things:

  1. Register an account on the official software website.

  2. Download and install the FlexiHub desktop application on all computers that will take part in the connection, including the machine to which the device you’d like to share is connected physically and the one from which you want to access the device remotely.

Once all is set, take the following steps:

  1.  If not connected yet, plug the device that you need to use remotely into a USB port of your local Windows computer.

  2. Start FlexiHub and log in to your account.

As soon as you do this, the device gets available for remote access automatically.

        3.  Launch your Remote Desktop client and establish a connection to a remote virtual desktop.

        4.  Start FlexiHub on the virtual desktop and log in to your FlexiHub account.

       5.  In the FlexiHub interface, you will see the list of devices currently available for remote access. Find the one you need and click the Connect button next to its name.

That’s it! Once you connect to the remote PC via RDP and establish a connection with the shared device, this USB device will appear in the Device Manager on the remote machine and will be recognized by all applications as a local one.
